Mount Benson Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2021

Block B Chardonnay picked a little later, destemmed, settled, and fermented using specialist yeasts in French Oak barrels (30% new). The juice on pressing and settling tasted of rich honey and mead, during ferment grapefruit and citrus flavours predominated. The French Oak barrel (30% new) ferment, with their judicious use, and resting on lees, have complemented this wine with pleasant flavours of white peach, nashi pear, and honey dew melon. The wine has a clear crisp acid line with some lime on the back palate. Serve chilled with a mains of seafood (barramundi, crayfish, abalone, or scallop), Asian dishes, canapes, or platters of soft cheeses, quince paste, dried fruit and nuts.
