Deep ruby-red with a black core, lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full, mealy aromas of blackberry, plums interweave spicy oak and a hint of smoked meat. Medium-full bodied, blackberry and plums nuances enriched by liquorice, cedar and toasty oak. The wine bears ripe fruit and concentration; fine-grained tannin extraction contributes to a structured frame. Liquorice and savoury element unfolds, linger with richness to a sustained closing. This cold-climate Merlot from a hot vintage displays ripe fruit with structure and oak complexity. Match with beef stew and venison back straps over the next 3-5 years. Fermented to 14.6% alc.
